The UP Materials Science Society (UP MSS) is a duly recognized nonprofit, academic student organization that develops excellence in both the academic and leadership skills of its members. It is an interdisciplinary organization that fosters unity and camaraderie among its members and at the same time, widens their interest for materials science.
Before the freshies faced their very first challenge in the Math building, UP MSS helped in their preparation with a math 17 review session initiated by the EdResT Committee. Ate Stelle and Ate Charm answered sample exams together with the freshies to help them become familiar with the type of questions and to allow them to begin their practice in answering prolems. 
Since reviewing would definitely make one hungry, snacks for the reviewers were provided by Ate Kath and Kuya Steve.

Who said that the Engineering Opening Week is an event only for freshies? The Engineering Opening Week is also for students who are feeling fresh, naturally fresh, or those who just want to be part of the event. UP MSS is the block handler of Block G29. These once brittle students are now ductile and tough graduates, pliant enough to face and conquer new challenges. UP MSS is honored to have 32 graduates; 4 of them are cum laudes, 3 are magna cum laudes and one is a summa cum laude. Justin L. Sy is the second summa cum laude of the Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMMME) and the first from the degree program in BS Materials Engineering with a GWA of 1.171.
Good job, 2011 Graduates! At least you don’t have to worry about grades anymore. May you become richer and never forget us.
